Rudraksh + Karungali Mala (54 Beads) | Shiva-Skanda-Shani Raksha
Sale price ₹ 779.00
Regular price ₹ 1,299.00

Original karungali mala and bracelet in genuine Tamil ebony, the black heartwood long used in South Indian practice. Karungali carries more doubt than almost any other bead sold in India, so every piece below is genuine wood, not stained substitute, and ships with its certificate.

What karungali is

Karungali is the Tamil name for ebony heartwood, revered in South India and associated with Lord Murugan and with Shani. It is traditionally worn for protection and grounding, particularly during Sade Sati, and is often strung together with rudraksha so the two sit on the same mala.

It is worn as a devotional and protective practice, not as a guarantee of any outcome.

Why karungali is so often faked

Genuine karungali is dense, sinks in water, and does not release colour when rubbed with a damp cloth. Stained rosewood and dyed substitutes are lighter, float, and leave a mark. Our authenticity checks explain how to test a bead at home, and every GemSense piece ships with its laboratory certificate.

What you receive

A hand-strung karungali mala or bracelet, cleansed before dispatch, in a gift box with its certificate. Free delivery across India and cash on delivery available.

Common questions

Karungali mala belongs to which god?
Karungali is most closely associated with Lord Murugan, and is also worn as a Shani remedy during Sade Sati.

Can karungali be worn with rudraksha?
Yes, and it very commonly is. Our combination mala strings both, with sphatik. See the rudraksha mala guide.

How should it be cared for?
Keep it dry and oil it occasionally. Do not soak it. See how to cleanse a bracelet or mala.
