Natural citrine bracelet in 8mm beads, sent with its SGL laboratory certificate. Citrine is the warm yellow quartz long called the merchant's stone, and it is one of the most frequently misrepresented stones sold in India.
What citrine is traditionally worn for
Citrine is associated with confidence, optimism and momentum in work and business. Merchants traditionally kept a piece in the cash box, which is why it sits in both our Dhan Yog and Money Magnet bracelets. It is worn as a supportive intention, not a promise of financial return, and is not a substitute for financial advice.
The citrine problem, stated plainly
Most of what is sold as citrine in India is heat-treated amethyst, sometimes called burnt amethyst. Natural citrine is a pale, smoky, slightly cloudy yellow. Heat-treated material is a strong orange-brown, often with a white base near the drill hole and a distinctly reddish tint. Neither is a fake exactly, but they are not the same stone, and the price should not be the same either. Our authenticity checks explain how to tell them apart, and the SGL certificate that ships with every ready-made piece identifies what you actually received.
